Welcome
The Chesapeake Audubon Society works in Maryland to promote the stewardship of natural ecosystems through conservation, restoration, education, and advocacy. We schedule hikes and educational events throughout the year to help members and guests learn about birds, plants, and the natural world around them. Beginners are especially welcome!
About
The Chesapeake Audubon Society's range covers Baltimore, Annapolis and the Eastern Shore. Through our programs on the Western and Eastern Shore we work to connect people to birds, wildlife and nature.
Wildlife Sanctuaries
Chesapeake Audubon Society owns and manages three sanctuaries. Pickering Creek Audubon Center, the gem of this trio, is open to the public to explore and is 400 acres of meadow, wetland, forest, farm field and Chesapeake Bay shoreline. Pickering Creek not only offers habitat for wildlife but serves as the focal point for our community-based environmental education on the Eastern Shore of MD, serving more than 14,000 students annually. Farm Creek Sanctuary in Dorchester County and High Banks Sanctuary in Talbot County are havens for wildlife, help preserve habitat and water quality, and serve as field sites for research on habitat restoration and climate change resilience.
